Nine Lives

Despite recent dour warnings from our vet, Digit is hanging in there. She's severely anemic and is in slowly progressing renal failure; so when I trimmed her claw recently (which I've done all her life) and made her bleed (which I've never done), and it wouldn't stop bleeding, Panic struck and I rushed her to the vet. I love our vet. He very diplomatically said that, with her health history, it made sense to bring her in. He applied some kind of magic potion that I could probably get at the drug store and stopped the bleeding and sent her home. Patted me on the arm, smiled and didn't charge a penny. Took him all of ten minutes.
Meanwhile, Lulu is making sure that Tim is safe from all comers -- doesn't she look fierce? He took the photo himself with his new iPhone (he was jealous of mine, so when his Blackberry started failing, he got the new generation iPhone -- for half the price of what I paid for mine, which I had to get after I dropped my Blackberry down the toilet right before the Festival of Books!). I love this picture -- she's the biggest goof, but she looks so fierce!
Sadder news on the kitty front: Leila lost her Nuthatch last week. She became ill while Leila was away, and just didn't seem to get better. I know Leila misses her Nutty, so send her comforting thoughts. And some to Duster, too, the remaining kitty of Leila's trio...
love, Linda
