And, Finally, the Smiling Camels!

Our world travelers are safely returned. Stuart and Leslie are home from Italy; Dad and Janet are back from Egypt.

Janet's email upon return:

"We are back, rested, and trying to reorganize. The trip was all I expected and more than Dub expected. We traveled the Nile, went to pyramids and temples, saw many ancient ruins, learned about Egyptian religion and history, read hieroglyphics, learned about modern Egypt art, culture and politics, and enjoyed staying in marvelous hotels and boats. There is so much information and so many pictures that it will probably take us weeks to go through and label what we did. I think if I can remember only a fraction of what we did and saw I will be doing well.

During our trip we had a marvelous and knowledgeable guide, ate interesting food, suffered a little “funny tummy”, enjoyed to lovely weather, shopped a bit, and were impressed by the level of security. We had a “Wyatt Earp” packing a machine pistol traveling with us – a different one each day – and tourist police with major weapons at every stop. Most of this was general policy, but some of the security on the streets was a result of the Palestinian situation and concerns about public demonstrations. Never did I feel threatened but it was good to know that security was so important. I know that tourism is a major part of the Egyptian economy and they were taking no chances that there would be any incidents.

It is good to be home and we are slowly getting organized."

Can't wait to see more pix (including, hopefully, some from Italy -- and maybe a recipe or two?), am delighted and relieved that everyone is home safely, and this has got to be one of the best travel photos EVER!
